Beef Cutlet

  • 1 pound of beef, cut into cubes

Prepare Beef:

  • 1⁄2 tsp black pepper
  • 1⁄2 tsp chili powder
  • 1⁄2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1⁄2 tsp fennel seed powder
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1⁄2 tsp salt

For the Cutlet Mix:

  • 2 tbsps. ginger, minced
  • 1 tbsp. garlic, minced
  • 1 cup onion, minced
  • 2 green chilies, minced
  • 2 stalks of curry leaves, chopped
  • 2 – 3 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed well
  • 1⁄2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 egg whites, beaten
  • 1 1⁄2 cup breadcrumbs
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsps of oil for sauteing the cutlet mix
  • Oil for frying, as needed


Step 1:

  • Wash and drain the beef.
  • Add the “Ingredients To Prepare Beef” to the beef and cook until tender. Set aside.

Step 2:

  • Boil potatoes and mash well. Set aside.

Step 3:

  • When cool, mince the cooked beef in a food processor.

Step 4:

  • In a pan, add 2 tablespoons of oil.
  • When oil is hot, add ginger and sauté for a minute.
  • And add onions, garlic, green chili, and curry leaves.
  • When ingredients are slightly browned, add black pepper and garam masala.
  • Add minced meat and mix well.
  • Remove from the stove.
  • Add mashed potatoes to the mix and combine well.
  • Taste for salt. Add more if needed.
  • Crack two eggs and remove egg whites.
  • Beat egg whites with one teaspoon of water.

Step 5:

  • Make small balls and shape them in your palm to form a round or oval.
  • When complete, dip them all in egg whites, then drop them all in breadcrumbs and roll them with the breadcrumbs.
  • In a frying pan or fry daddy, heat oil.
  • When ready, fry the cutlets to a golden brown.
  • Remove when ready, and place onto a plate lined with a paper towels, in order to absorb the excess oil.



Cutlets are great snacks or can be served with Rice, Chapatti, Nan, Bread, etc.
